Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Anti-wrinkle injections are referred to as Botox injections, short for Botulinum toxin. Botox is a naturally occurring protein that causes the muscles of the face to relax, consequently smoothing out wrinkles.

Anti-wrinkle injections are safe and pain-free. The treatment takes just a few minutes. Your skin looks normal almost immediately afterwards and there is no need to take time off work.

Treatment Journey

Your doctor will examine your facial muscles and explain how the procedure works. They will be also answer any questions you may have.

Once you are happy to proceed, your doctor will administer the anti-wrinkle injections using a very fine short needle,employing a sterile technique.

The entire treatment is usually completed within ten to twelve minutes. Sometimes there is tiny swelling at the injection point but this disappears very quickly.

You must avoid facial massages, alcohol and saunas/ steamrooms for twenty four hours after the procedure.

Aftercare

The result of the anti-wrinkle treatment usually takes up to 10 days to become noticeable.

As with any medical procedure there are always potential side effects, but thankfully these are very rare and most people feel no side effects at all.

Occasionally a temporary drooping of the eyelid may occur, this may last a few weeks but then resolves. Other potential side effects include bruising, numbness and infection at the injection site, headache and nausea. Thankfully all of these are very rare and short-lived.
